Big News: Tavi's on Top

The news on the web is that the famous Fashion Blogger Tavi Lands the POP Magazine Cover, with background artwork by Damien Hirst. Tavi was on the preview cover of Love magazine and now she might be on the next cover of POP.

Personally, I'm thrilled to see the smart and creative Tavi gaining recognition outside the circle. If only I had a computer when I was 13!

Tavi's kept me busy for quite some time now, enjoying her witty, sarcastic and stylish posts. Check them out for yourself, at
Style Rookie.

Ps. I'm not threatened by a smart 13 year old. I feel like she is more of an old soul in a young girls body. You go girl!

Hand made knickers? I'm hopelessly addicted!

I found a new obsession!

Hopeless creates luxurious lingerie for ladies who love vintage and silks. Owned and operated by two sisters
Gabrielle and Dominique Adamidis. They sell their gorgeous candy online at etsy, and just launched a new website: Hopeless Hotel.

On a side note, but I think related, Gabrielle and her friend Jane (Gabby and Jane) have quite a little sexy blog over at Spokes and Dagger. It's a combined blog where they share their creations, interesting finds and day to day life with one another.

Who can keep calm at a time like this!!!

The first time this sign was pointed out to me, was by the lovely Victoria! How perfect for her and her fabulous husband. Two of my favorite brits.

This is a reproduction of the original Keep Calm and Carry On poster produced by the Ministry of Information 1939.

Keep Calm and Carry On was a motivational poster produced by the British government in 1939 during the beginning of World War II, but never used. It was rediscovered in 2000, and now graces the wall of such places as diverse as the prime minister's strategy unit at 10 Downing Street, the Lord Chamberlain's office at Buckingham Palace and the United States embassy in Belgium. um, not to mention Victorias.

If your dying for a poster, or even a t-shirt, go to this fun site "Keep Calm and carry on", and get one for yourself.

So, now that it has resurfaced, and gained a huge fan club, why not play upon the idea? Well, Jennys Bakeshop, on etsy, has done just that. Paying tribute to an iconic image, they designed their own take on it with a bit more incentive than simply "carry on" to "keep calm", there must also be a cupcake involved!

a kindred spirit

I've always loved Nadja Auermann. And I have posted about her before! And darn it, she looks terrific sans makeup, in this lovely photo by Peter Lindbergh.

But now I know! We are sisters of the big earlobes!

It's good to know I'm not alone.

PS. I will be posting very lightly this end of summer. Will be back on full-charge come September.

What do Pirates and Guitars have in common...

Fender finds up-and-coming artists to paint guitars. These two were crafted by Jason Smith, and painted by Lysa Provincio. Mighty cool, eh?!

Check out more her lovely paintings and drawings on her blog; The Art of Lysa Provencio.

I went through a phase where I was determined to learn the guitar.. 4 years ago. I was very disciplined, and practiced every day. What motivated me was taking the lesson weekly, and sitting down with my instructor, Jimmy. I eventually stopped taking the lessons, hoping I would continue on, without his support. But not having someone to play with, and having many other hobbies and projects, it slowly turned into less and less practice. I've been meaning to pick it up again. I really loved that time I spent working on it.

Thanks to my brother for enlightening me about were, via boingboing.
